Huawei and its partners recently won four big awards at a global tech challenge held during MWC Shanghai 2025. The event was about using AI with a new technology called “New Calling” which improves phone services using 5G. Many companies and universities from around the world sent in their ideas to the challenge.
The challenge was the first of its kind, created by GSMA and GTI to find smart and useful ways to use New Calling. It received nearly 100 entries from 16 universities and 58 companies. The goal was to improve phone call services for both businesses and regular people using AI.
China Mobile Jiangsu and Huawei won first place for a project in Nanjing that used 5G and AI together. Another first prize went to a project from Huawei that improved customer service using New Calling. Huawei also helped China Mobile Henan win second place and even won third prize on its own for an AI calling tool.
New Calling is a fresh idea in mobile technology that lets users do more than just talk. It includes features like video calls, live translations, and fun voice services that are already being used in many parts of the world. Huawei says New Calling will help phone companies grow by offering more than just voice calls.
This win shows how powerful teamwork and new technology can be. Huawei believes combining AI with phone services will change how we all communicate. As a front-end developer, I find it exciting to see tech move toward more smart and helpful experiences for users.
