Imagine engaging in a dynamic, free-flowing voice conversation with Search, effortlessly exploring links and information from across the web. First showcased at the highly anticipated Google I/O conference, this feature utilizes a specially customized version of Google’s Gemini model, designed specifically for superior voice interactions. 

With this cutting-edge technology, users can benefit from Google Search’s reliable, high-quality information infrastructure, ensuring that every response is not only accurate but also incredibly useful.

What sets the Search Live feature apart is its remarkable “query fan-out” technique, which expands the variety of content users can access, giving users a broader, richer exploration of topics. 

Whether they are multitasking or on the go, like when users are preparing for a trip, this feature transforms the search experience. Simply tap on the “Live” icon in the Google app and ask questions aloud, such as, “What are some tips for preventing a linen dress from wrinkling in a suitcase?” 

Users receive real-time, spoken answers that will keep them engaged and informed. Follow-up questions? No problem! Ask easily, “What should I do if it still wrinkles?” and watch as relevant web links appear on-screen, allowing users to dive deeper into the information without skipping a beat.

Activating Search Live is a breeze! Tap the eye-catching sparkle-badged waveform icon located beneath the Search bar, the same one used for Gemini Live. Users can also access it through a newly added button next to the search text field, which opens a sleek, full-screen interface in both light and dark modes. 

With a stylish gradient ‘G’ in the corner and an arc-shaped waveform in vibrant AI Mode colors, the design is as intuitive as it is beautiful. At the bottom, users can find a convenient Mute/Unmute button and a “Transcript” option for anyone who prefers text-based interaction. 

When it comes to queries, Search Live provides a scrollable list of relevant web links to enhance their experience. Best of all, this feature continues to work seamlessly even when users’ screen is locked or they are using another app, allowing them to maintain voice interaction in the background. 

A simple tap on the ‘X’ button exits the session, while the overflow menu grants users access to their Search history and Voice settings, with four engaging modes to choose from: Cassini, Cosmo, Neso, and Terra.
