How Generative AI Is Changing the Future of Jobs

As a senior front-end engineer, I find the growth of Generative AI exciting and concerning at the same time. A news report from the International Labour Organisation (ILO) states AI can affect the jobs of people, one in every four workers. That’s a big number. But fortunately, in most cases, AI cannot fully replace a human but it changes the work culture.

AI Is Already Changing the Hiring Process

ManpowerGroup (a global staffing company) conducted a contest this year. One of the startups came up with the brilliant idea of renting AI agents instead of people. This is a clear indication that in the future, companies will come up with the idea of hiring AI as a human replacement for entry-level jobs.

Dario Amodei, the CEO of Anthropic, shared his thoughts on AI replacing 50% of white-collar roles. This sounds like a big deal for those who will have to start their careers in the coming years.

AI Will Not Take Our Jobs But Will Change Them

Tomas Chamorro-Premuzic, the Chief Innovation Officer at ManpowerGroup, said that AI will not be able to completely take over the work that is done by a human, but will make us rethink on time we spend while working. He also shared an opinion that AI will make us work quicker but the time saved will be wasted on scrolling on social media. Companies are now looking for people who are good with technical knowledge and can work with AI.

Job Seekers Are Using AI Too

Most of the candidates not only use AI to find jobs but also make their CVs and Cover Letters with the help of AI. Also, most of them try to clear the interview entry rounds with the help of AI.

Final Thoughts

Instead of being afraid of AI, we should all be prepared to work along with AI. It should not change or take over our jobs, but it should make our way of working easier and more effective.
