Dia: The AI-First Browser That Might Just Rethink How We Use the Web

We have to say that something big is happening in browser land. The team that brought us Arc (a modern web browser developed by The Browser Company) is back with a bold new project, and it’s called Dia, an AI-first browser now available in beta.

Arc was very different from traditional browsers like Chrome or Firefox. While that made it exciting for some users, it also made it confusing for others. The result? A browser that puts artificial intelligence at the very core of how we explore, create, and work on the internet.

What Makes Dia Different?

Dia isn’t just another Chrome clone with a chatbot. Even though Dia is new, the layout, performance, and user experience will feel very familiar to anyone who has used Chrome browsers, but its core experience revolves around a deeply integrated AI assistant:

The URL bar acts as a chatbot – you can search, ask questions, summarize files, and even draft content based on open tabs.

You can talk to the AI to set the tone, writing style, and code preferences. An opt-in feature called History lets the AI use your past 7 days of browsing for more personalized answers.

Skills let you build small coded automation. Skills are like mini-programs you create inside the browser. If you want to create a custom layout for coding, say “Open coding setup” and it arranges your tabs/windows.

As a Developer, Here’s My Opinion,

We’ve seen AI pop up in browsers before, but this feels different. It’s not about adding AI to an existing product but it’s about rethinking the browser with AI at its foundation. From summarizing documents to coding UI layouts on the fly, Dia could reduce the time I spend switching tools.

Of course, I’m curious to see how it will handle developer tools, extensions, and privacy. But if it integrates well with professional workflows, it might become a real game-changer.

Want to Try It?

Dia is currently in invite-only beta. You can’t just download it freely from the website. You need an invitation from someone who already has access. If you were an Arc user, you should already have access.
